Description:

Several species are popular garden shrubs, grown for their ornamental evergreen foliage, yellow flowers in autumn, winter and early spring, and blue-black berries. The berries are edible, and rich in vitamin C, though with a very sharp flavor.

Habitat:

Native to eastern Asia, the Himalaya, North America and Central America.

Thanks for the species ID, Dag (just found the genus myself right today). Added a picture of the riper buds turning more yellow.
about a month to go, I guess...but it wouldn't be surprising if frost returns for us as well

Thank you, Hans - yes, all signs on spring...at least some. Fungi still hide, but that's just a question of a few degrees more - same for the blooms of course :)
wow, spring allready arrived in Germany? Lucky one, we had frozen zone just yesterday, allthough there are some birds coming back, there´s no sign of bloom here yet. Great shots.
