Field Notes

Description:

Pink moth with yellow hues on the wing tips and head. Three pairs of horizontal yellow stripes. Measures 1/2" in diameter.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest of NW Costa Rica at the beginning of the dry season.

Notes:

Spotted at night near an HID lamp.

I also thought about Pyrausta. I am not sure if Signatalis is going that much south to Costa Rica. Besides the lower line at the margin of the forewing is quite narrow and regular, the same line in Pyrausta signatalis is not so regular. I have it still on my list to check...

Pyraloidea and looks in my eyes like Crambidae, Pyraustinae.
