Description:

Some type of egg case. Approx. 4cm long and about 2 cm across. Found in flower bed among leaves. Looks like leaves were used to wrap.

Thanks for the information. I will bring it in and hopefully get to see it emerge.

This looks like a pupa (cocoon) of a moth species, for my guess. Wrapping in leaves, bark, etc is a popular strategy for moths. You could keep it in a jar on a window sill to photograph the moth when it emerges if you want the ID.
