Field Notes

Description:

This is a small green sawfly larva on the car windscreen.
They have few long hairs. Body length about 6mm.
These type of larvae spend a great deal of time hanging in mid air by the silk that they produce.
Sometimes, several of them can be seen hanging from a silk from tree.

Habitat:

Some or only a species of tree in Kinabalu Park, Kundasang, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 50m diameter. This larva was suspended from a tree and got "stranded" on the car windscreen after colliding with our car that rode by.
It was not hurt and crawled away from the car windscreen, hopefully it will find another tree.
Although I personally think that it is cute for them hanging like that, it can sometimes be a nuisance whenever someone walk past under a tree and then finding themselves covered in worms
