Species ID Suggestions

Smith's Pixie

Melanis smithiae

Comments (3)

We had this before and I IDed it as Riodinidae, Melanis sp., Melanis smithiae. It is the only one with orange band on the hindwing (not reddish and "bubbles" as Melanis pixe) and there are also not many with yellow apex. Confusing is that it shows only 2 spots. Ashish and I very unsuccessfully looking for the missing spots ;-)... http://www.learnaboutbutterflies.com/Andes%20-%20Melanis%20smithiae.htm
