Field Notes

Description:

Common garter snake. Got pretty friendly with me

Habitat:

Open grassy area

Notes:

These snakes played a large part in my childhood. Most summer days were spend chasing them around the yard catching them and letting them play between my fingers. I've been bitten more than id like to admit by them.

Very nice series; the portrait in the first photo is excellent.
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Thanks PieterColpaert and Bhagya Herath!
Thanks Kate! James- It was pretty hard to get that shot. She wouldn't put her tongue out unless I put my camera down.
