Description:
Formerly Rana sphenocephala, obviously its common name comes from its spots. A primarily aquatic true frog reaching northern Missouri at the northwestern extent of its southeast-US range.
Habitat:
Spotted off an urban nature trail (South Creek Greenway Trail) on the edge of the leaf-covered bank of South Creek in Springfield, Missouri. Third photo shows the habitat of this spotting location.
