Field Notes

Description:

Small solitary fungus seemingly turning itself inside out. 24mm. Top was brown and grey radial pattern. White to light grey gills showed clearly with overturned edges. Some meandering cross-gills evident. Stipe very short and eccentric.

Habitat:

On a fallen moss covered eucalyptus log in dense, wet and dark eucy forest.

Thanks Emma and Gerardo. We decided yesterday that there must be some fungi around (southern hemisphere season) so we spent a couple of hours looking for some. I think it will probably take a week just to upload it all !!! Plus we need to learn about these things. It's all good but I'm not touching the camera for several days.
