Field Notes

Habitat:

live in thorny and brushy vegetation throughout the Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Mojave deserts as well as parts of the Great Basin along river valleys and creeks, in washes and arroyos, at springs and seeps, and in the chaparral and oak woodlands of high desert settings

Notes:

Groups of these humorous and nervous birds kept me entertained on most late afternoons with their antics along the ranch during my visit to Arizona. I was able to photograph them through the RV's windows.
