Field Notes

Description:

The blue-bellied roller is a strikingly colored bird. The head and chest are a cream color. The body is generally a dark blue. However, when in flight, then light blue feathers on the under wing provide an unexpected contrast. In this photo you can faintly see the streamers on the tail.

Habitat:

Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo. Savannah and forest, preferring moist areas.
