Field Notes

Description:

A pale olive green moth with speckled wings and a small blurred roange patch on each forewing. Costa curved down at the apices with an oblique dark line running up from the apices towards the inner wing margins. A low profile crest was seen on a furry thorax.
Hind wings could have had sooty submarginal areas - can be just seen in pic 1.
Wingspan -probably about 30 mm.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights on a warm night near National park and suburban gardens.

Notes:

These are considered an agricultural pest all over the world. The caterpillars feed on Poaceae (maize, rice and sorghum). They are seen to migrate in large numbers. <br>
