Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful fleshy smooth cap mushrooms from about 20mm to 40mm wide seen growing around the base of a large rotting eucalyptus tree stump.
The caps had dark centres with gradual lightening of colour towards the margins. The caps looked like they were dipped in honey or had a glaze with a whitish bloom.
Stipes were thick short and light brown. Gills might have been a pale creamy colour - I could not photograph these.
Pic #4 shows two mushrooms on the same tree stump, growing sideways. These looked and felt dry. I wondered if they were the same kind as the others.

Habitat:

damp tall eucalyptus forest

Notes:

There were many such mushrooms around the tree base. What was most striking was their sturdy short stipes that held the mushroom close to the tree bark. All around them was beautiful moss.
There is not much information but I am hoping that someone might recognise this mushroom- thanks.

Lovely syrupy looking translucency. I like pic#4 the most.
