Field Notes

Description:

A robust looking mushroom; 35mm tall; pileus slightly mottled grey to brown-grey; stipe very thick, white. Mostly smooth but some very small 'hairs' on stipe. No obvious frills.

Habitat:

Growing on fallen eucalyptus log in very dense eucalyptus forest. Many mosses for company.

Notes:

The shots showing the underside failed but it is highly likely that this is an earlier version of this... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9464338

I can't be certain as the focus was totally gone on my 'under' shots All I can see is a profile which suggests the stipe flares to the gills (if that makes sense)
don't know where to begin. I can just say: nice, :) [where the gills running a little bit downwards the stalk ?]
beautiful atmosphere - i like the second shot over the first, btw (even if the light is better on the first; sharpness scores on the second)
