Description:
Parts of leaf edges trimmed and twisted into upright spirals probably to shelter a little arthropod. Fine silk webbing was seen at the base of one of the whorls. The largest of the whorls were about 10 mm tall. The whorls were both clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Habitat:
Spotted on a young eucalyptus plant.
Notes:
It is not unusual to see rolled-up or folded leaves but little upright whorls such as these were a first for me !! - would love to be able to ID the architect -? spider - ?moth
I assume a silk nest would make the inside of these whorls, waterproof ?
