Habitat:

they develop in warm climates, particularly in the Southeast quadrant of the United States. This area ranges from southeastern Colorado to Virginia and Florida. They live naturally in areas where there is some source of calm, warm water. These water areas may be ponds, lakes, marshes, creeks, streams or rivers with slow currents
