Field Notes

Description:

Caps were mostly fan-shaped, pale orange, very fuzzy, and had inrolled margins. The gills were close, orange, and had frequent short gills. It didn't have a stem, but did have a poorly defined base. Odor: similar to rotting garbage. Fruiting bodies were 2-6 cm wide.

Habitat:

Habitat: Growing on rotting wood in a mostly deciduous forest.

Notes:

Past their prime, but still vibrant!

Thanks Mark! I have been watching these same orange oysters for at least 6 months! They are growing on my kids' fort in the woods, along with several other fungi and slime molds.
