Field Notes

Description:

It has the feet and huge nails in relation to its size enabling their walks on water plants. It measures about 23 cm. It has black plumage with brown robe, yellow beak with red frontal shield, yellowish-green pinions. Their juvenile plumage is all white on the bottom, with grayish brown back and top of the dark neck and head. A white stripe starts on the eyes and extends along the neck and back of the neck.

Habitat:

It is found throughout Brazil.
