Not much else from afar, Dominik, other than it appears to be diseased/parasitized. Larry, Eueides aliphera (as do other Heliconiini genera) has an entirely different-looking pupa . . . http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9445079
Thanks Early. Great info. I shot photos of various Fine-Lined Longwings - Eueides aliphera gracilis...maybe this was one? I also have some caterpillar shots from the same area which also may be from the same genus and/or species which I have yet to post.
Keith, can you tell us some more about the stage of THIS chrysalis??
Excellent Keith!! Chrysalis = pupa stage of a butterfly Cocoon = pupa stage of a moth So easy ;-)... I didn't know that it works this why! Thanks for this info!
But not Heliconius charithonia, doris, erato, sapho, sara (which look different), or other Heliconius not found locally. BTW . . . http://bkialblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/cocoon-or-chrysalis.html
