Field Notes

Description:

Slender lizard. There is a dark band across eyes and down the sides.

Habitat:

The rain forest leading to the Limestone caves on Baratang Island.

Notes:

The trail is not difficult or too long; just risky because of slippery terrain and lack of hand holds...spotting this motionless creature perfectly camouflaged in the mud and rotting vegetation made me happy. The trouble was the moment I pointed a camera at anything other tourists would rush over to see what it was, startling the animal in the process. I perfected the art of taking photographs with one hand...not excellent shots, I know but something is better than nothing.
Would love help with ID.
Mabuya? maybe??

Species ID Suggestions

Thanks Scott Frazier for taking the trouble. It was a mistake on my part to assume that such tiny islands could be pinpointed on the map. I am now going through my spottings one-by-one updating the coordinated and inputting the IDs according to the suggestions received. This is time taking considering I am constrained by my computer to use IE to upload anything macro-enabled...Chrome browser can be used ONLY to upload photos! But THANK YOU so much for pointing it out to me. I promise I won't be at sea much longer. :)
Hello! By searching Baratang Island on google maps, I came up with coordinates that I plugged into the PN search box, which yielded the current spotting map marker. Previously it was in distant open ocean. If this looks correct perhaps you can use these coordinates for your other spottings from this location. Cheers
