Field Notes

Description:

It looks like a pin. But there are root-like growths (black) at the free end. The other end is crowned with a tri-lobed white soft structure. ( I touched it.)

Habitat:

This was found on a rock left exposed as the sea recede.

Notes:

I ahve NO-IDEA what it is. I thought it was a spicule but it is soft...may be a baby algae?
