Field Notes

Description:

Typical squat body with prominent parotid gland and bulging, gold-flecked eyes. I could see some small white pinhead like marks/structures on its skin but could not make out what it was. Fungus maybe?

Habitat:

In a small little cavity in the trunk of a coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) on Havelock island. I did not realize toads could seek out cavities in trees and hide there.

Notes:

Chose this as my 666th completed spotting because I smiled as I spotted it and hope that everyone who sees it smiles as well. Cyclone Hudhud was lashing the island but our friend here was quite safe and snug.
