Field Notes

Description:

AS there are 35 species of Christmas Beetle and two very similar ones have turned up in the garden the identity will be limited to genus

Habitat:

These beetles are boucing off lights and hanging off foliage everywhere around here

Notes:

For decades locals wondered why the great flights of various Christmas beetles had ceased. This years seem to have revived some and they have been common although still not in the numbers experienced several decades ago.

This specimen may also be a White Christmas Beetle. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_scarabs/WhiteChristmasBeetle.htm Anoplognathus pallidicollis
