Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized, pigeon-like bird. Sort of ashy in colour, with a distinctive black neck collar. Red eyes.

Habitat:

Just outside the sweet shops in Shatigarh near Burdwan. Right on the highway.

Notes:

I used to see lots of these doves in Delhi but never till now in Kolkata, West Bengal. although apparently it does occur here. I was extremely surprised to find this one on the outskirts of the city.
