Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly is in the family (hesperiidae). The butterfly has orange and black patterns on both fore and hindwings as well as the ventral size. The antenna are small and curved with a knob at the end. The eyes are also very large probably to scout flowers to feed on.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas. This one was found in Fort Worth,Texas on some Wildflowers.

Notes:

The fiery skipper lives in North and South America, from Canada to Argentina. It is a migratory species. You can also see the pollen on the proboscis.
