Lewis mockorange
Philadellphus, lewisii
51.7923, -114.091
Field Notes
Description:
Branches on the Lewis mockorange look dead and feel very brittle. This shrub lost about 80% of it leaves while the same shrub on the right side has about 80% of its leaves left. The 20% of the left over foillage has damage marks.
Habitat:
This Philadellphus is planted in the ground and is covered with mulch. It gets sun in the morning, and is shaded in the afternoon and the evening. This shrub is planted right beside a cement path and a fence. It appears to be infested with small black bugs in clusters underneath remaining leaves.
Notes:
To treat the black aphid infestation, the shrub may be sprayed with a pesticide or high pressure water. Another way to get rid of the infestation would be to wipe each leaf clean of aphids individually.
