Field Notes

Description:

A type of flycatcher. Most of these birds are very similar in appearance. In the autumn and winter, it may not be possible to be sure of the specific species.

Habitat:

Field near Jordan Lake.

Notes:

The photos are not wonderful as the bird was at a fair distance. It was singing nicely.

Thanks, Ashley. It could be a peewee. I honestly don't remember the call as the spotting was almost 7 weeks ago.
With that crest, looks like an eastern wood pewee to me. The easiest way to tell them all apart is by song, so if it was singing for you then you would just need to listen to all their calls and it shouldn't be a problem figuring out which one it is.
