Onyx

I was on one of my occasional bug hunting expeditions which took me uphill to approximately 250 ft. above sea level, along a very narrow road (more of a track). At some points, along the roadsides, there are what could best be described as remnants of tropical forest which have been unusable to farmers who have gradually cleared the forest over the centuries. These small fragments of rainforest have become a haven for countless species of insects and spiders and every time I visit such places, I am certain to come across species that are quite new to me as an amateur biodiversity enthusiast. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw 5 or 6 of these colourful little butterflies. They were very agitated and darted about in the foliage and branches, settling for only a second or two before fluttering away again. I managed only three picctures and cannot be sure if they are three separate specimens or three pictures of the same one. I was just happy to to have some snapshots.
