Field Notes

Description:

Small yellow flowers with 4 petals. Male flowers had two thick anthers. flowers seen in clusters on this slender erect shrub about 2 m tall. Leaves were small and ovate and crowded on stems.

Habitat:

Spotted in sclerophyll forests with eucalypts and other natives. <br>
Butterfly attracting.

Notes:

We were informed that the bark of this plant was sometimes stripped and used as bootlace ! The bark obviously strips in one long piece and is tough, perhaps ?? <br>

Family: Thymelaeaceae <br>
This family ( trees and shrubs mostly) is said to be more diverse in the Southern Hemisphere, with most genera in Africa and then, Australia.
