Description:
A shrub that grows up to 8 feet. It had small five-petaled white flowers on long stalks.
Petals were obovate and conspicuous making this a male plant. Leaves were elongated, soft and arranged alternately on stem.
Habitat:
Usually found in riparian forest, this bush was one of a few planted alongside a creek in a park. <br>It is an Australian native.
Notes:
The plant is dioecious - meaning male and female flowers are on separate plants. Male flowers have larger petals whilst the petals on the female are said to be no longer than the calyx.
The plant has long fibres which were used by indigenous people to make baskets. <br> Family: Malvaceae
