Field Notes

Description:

The paper birch tree is deciduous and can live up to 140 years. It has white, chafing bark with serrated and alternate leaves. Its fruit matures in the fall and drops in the spring. It is an extremely flammable tree.

Habitat:

Temperate climates, indigenous to northern North America (same as a canoe birch)

Notes:

This particular Paper Birch had mushrooms growing on it and I thought it was interesting so I focused mainly on the trunk of the tree.
