Ladder Gall
Steneotarsonemus phragmitidis
53.285, -2.52548
Field Notes
Description:
This strange gall is caused by a mite from the Tarsonemidae family pulling down the upper leaf and attaching it to the one underneath. It is probably the most under-recorded gall in the UK, the NBN database only holds 8 records (to date), most likely because when in a raft of reeds it can be very difficult to spot.
