Description:

Alternate leaves are oval with finely pointed tips. The tops of the leaves are bright green with a distinctly silvery scale on the underside. The fruit ripens to red in September and October. The autumn olive is somewhat shade tolerant and occurs on a variety of soil types.

Habitat:

Native to Asia, the autumn olive was introduced to the United States in the 1830s.
