Description:

The western raven is the smallest of the North American population. Some possible explanations for this are given in the reference under Evolutionary history. Ravens use both vocals and pose/display to convey messages usually to other ravens.

Habitat:

Spotted on a fence post at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.
