Field Notes

Description:

Juvenile are distinguishable from adults by their prominent white 'bib,' a lack of a red-colored tail, and a bluish tint to the feet and cere (nose). As in all other hawks, females are about 25% larger than males.

Habitat:

Open country, including farm lands.

Notes:

Some glamor shots of my falconry bird. I took this hawk from the wild and have trained her hunt alongside me. She will be released back into the wild this Spring, when prey is abundant.
