Field Notes

Description:

A large, multi-colored bird that rarely flies.

Habitat:

Not native to Oregon, these were imported from the eastern part of the continent to provide hunting. They have certainly taken hold.

Notes:

These males of the gang of turkeys were "dragging the gut", what we used to call cruising Willamette Street in Eugene looking for hookups. They were not at all concerned about traffic.

Yup, I guess we can say that Eugene officially has 'gangs', just the feathered kind. It is startling; wonder if the homeless are enjoying the feast.
Spotted them at 8th and Lincoln last week! Couldn't believe my eyes!
thanks! There were over a dozen females to show off to.
