Field Notes

Description:

It is a medium sized plant hopper with a bright red abdomen with a blackish blue wings covered with two orange stripes.They are commonly found sitting around tall plants stems and when disturbed they hop and fly away making a loud buzzing sound.They have very similar body structures that to of a cicada.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.

Notes:

This species is found in many parts of North America.The species is always found around summer time feeding on many plants like okra and others.
