Description:
The Alpine or Montane rose is a deciduous shrub, climbing, and often growing in a shade of other trees. It is practically thornless and possess a strong agreable fragrance. Leaves are pinnate leaves, with 7 to 11 leaflets. Flowers are pinkish, becoming paler toward the centre, and are followed by showy red oval orange-red hips, pointing downwards.
Habitat:
Found on a mixed forest, in hills on slopes of Jura mountain range.
Notes:
This rose can be easily confused with the Gallic rose, Rosa gallica (here is one of my previous spottings of Gallic rose: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1244293927) bear uniformly coloured pink flowers, slightly larger; and sports pinnate leaves composed of 3 to 7 leaflets (7 to 11 for Alpine rose).
