Description:
Both Predatory Stink Bug adults and nymphs are generalist predators feeding on large variety of other arthropods, especially larval forms of Lepidoptera and Coleoptera. These stink bugs are considered to be beneficial and should not be confused with plant eating stink bugs. The
eggs of Podisus maculiventris have been sold commercially for biological control of pests in greenhouses.
Habitat:
North America; Southern Canada - Mexico, the Bahamas, and parts of the West Indies. Some species have been introduced into other countries for biological control of crop pests.
Notes:
Observed preying on a Cabbage White butterfly.
