I don't think it was building a nest- there were many crater like landforms all over the swamps when low tide started settling in. They also appeared at places were there weren't any birds at all. I think there was something going on with the ground/ mud. This stork was picking out its food from one of these craters.
Is she building a nest? Flamingos build a mud nest up from the ooze like that. If it is a nest, please consider putting this spotting in the Animal Architecture mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8082378
