Field Notes

Description:

40mm wingspan; all wings deep yellow and black-brown patterns which include 2 'eyes' on the rear set;

Habitat:

Damp very tall eucalyptus forest.

Notes:

The species is found the mountains, above 300 metres. It has been classified into three subspecies:

banksii in New South Wales and eastern Victoria,
mariposa Tindale, 1953, in southern Queensland, and
nevina Tindale, 1953, in western Victoria.
