Riberry
Syzygium luehmannii
-33.8283, 151.253
Field Notes
Description:
Beautiful orange-pink berries on a shrub of medium height, growing in dense clusters. Leaves were small and glossy.
Habitat:
Spotted growing as a hedge along the outer garden wall - Sydney, New South Wales. The plant is indigenous to Australia, growing in Queensland and mostly northern New South Wales.
Notes:
The fruit had a spicy, beautiful flavour. I am in the habit of trying out most lilli pilli fruits and they are so varied in their flavour - this one was certainly the best. See reference for culinary use.
Also called Satinash, clove lilli pilli
Family : Myrtaceae
