Habitat:

WHAT DO I DO? Help needed. I found these babies by the trunk of our avocado tree this afternoon. They might have fallen from the tree and I suspect that these are barbets since a couple of barbets live in a hole on a dead branch of the avocado. Here are the adult barbets who reside in our avocado - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9397146... Please I need your help on what to do with these babies. Do I climb up the tree and return them back inside the hole? Do I care for them until they are ready to be on their own? If yes, what do I feed them? They've been crying and opening their beaks so I gave them mangoes (that's the only fruit I have at the moment). Any help from you is appreciated. Thanks.

Good luck with the little birds. I was thinking bugs would be better than mangoes; I'm glad that seems to be working.
Good luck with your rehab efforts!
Hi, Ava. Thanks, the link is very informative. It's already midnight now and I'll climb up the avocado tree tomorrow and return them back to the hole. Good thing tomorrow's Friday and I don't have class so I could stay the whole morning observing if the parents have come home. But what if they're now orphans? There's no wildlife rehabilitator here for birds. By the way, I hunted moths and locust outside and they seem to respond to soft-bodied insects better than fruits.
