Green Stink Bug

Adult green stink bugs prefer to feed on developing seeds of many plants and are considered a crop pest. When seeds are not available they will feed on the juices from leaves and plant stems. Adults and nymphs have large defensive stink glands on the underside of the thorax (image 2) which release a foul smelling liquid when the stink bug is disturbed. The green stink bug has very few natural enemies because of its intolerable taste with the exception of the parasitic tachinid fly (Trichopoda pennipes) ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7760721 ) which is highly attracted to these stink bugs, especially males.
