Field Notes

Description:

Black/blue metallic beetle about 2 cm length, partially elongated abdomen and bulky appearance. Was not alerted by my presence. I find it similar to a blister beetle, maybe a nymph?

Habitat:

Sutjeska National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Bosnia and Hercegovina, it's located in the provins of Srpska Republik close to the south-east border to Montenegro. It was established in 1962 as the first declared national park in Bosnia, and within, Perućica forest reserve that was established in 1952 for scientific and educational purposes, where one could easily find trees that are over 300 years old and a variety of rare and endangered species. It's one of the two remaining primeval forests of Europe.

Notes:

This specimen was spotted in the highlands at an altitude of 1200-1500 meters above sea-level.
