Description:

A pitaya or pitahaya is the fruit of several cactus species. "Pitahaya" or "Dragonfruit" refers to fruit of the genus Hylocereus. It is native to South and Central America, belong to perennial epiphytic plant.
It grows on a cactus and blooms only at night for 1 night, the flowers closing during the day.

Habitat:

Spotted a field of Dragon Fruit cactus in a finca near La Cruz, far NW Costa Rica.
