Description:

Has a few synonyms including Stereum elegans. A rolled, funnel like looking body. Various browns to pink brown internal surface with a frilled margin. Outer surface is a pinkish off white. No gills present. The stem is short and thin and there is no ring.

Habitat:

Found on a decaying log in mixed woodland on the ground in town park in the North Island of New Zealand.

Notes:

On closer inspection the funnel or cup is actually formed by a fan rolled in on itself rather than a solid cup. This species is found in Central America, the parts of Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. There are several sub species.
