Description:
One of my favourite little birds in the cape with its small body and distinctive white rings around its eys. They are very socialble and form large flocks outside of the breeding season before pairing of to build "cup" style nests in trees. We are lucky to have them visit our garden daily and here we found them setting upon soome aphds in our new False Jasmine Hedge. Thankfuly we decided not to spray the aphids and a natural solution came along. This pair has slowly eaten them all and still visits often.
Habitat:
A skitish bird that prefers cover while it feeds favouring light or thick tree lines in gardens and bushvelt.
Notes:
This pair of White eyes shars the space with a pair of cooloared sun birds who also take an aphid or two. I found that the sunbirds eat the aphids for the honey dew in there digestive system.
