Field Notes

Description:

Seagull are medium or large in size. They are usually coloured grey or white. They make harsh wails and have a stout, longish bill, and webbed feet. They have unhinging jaws which enables them to eat to consume large preys. They share the same environment with puffins, sea turtles and rock-hopper penguins which all scavenge food given by the sea. The symbiotic relationship between crab and seagull is parasitism. This relationship means that one benefits while the other gets harmed. In this case, the seagull benefits while the crab gets harmed. Seagulls have special glands located above their eyes which allows them to drink bot fresh and saltwater. They have a small claw up their lower leg that allows them to sit on high ledges without being blown off. The way that seagulls reproduce is by sexual reproduction. They find a partner at the age 4. Despite them always living in colonies and or groups, they have their own personal space to go to when they start to reproduce.

Habitat:

Seagulls are found in coastal areas around the world where they also hunt for their food. They will almost eat anything from small fishes to small rodents. They are able to french fries and bread. They are able to open clams to eat the insides. Seagulls don't really have any natural predators but they do get eaten by sharks sometime but not often.
