Tickseed

Oh please don't talk about ticks. I was out hiking last week and picked up two. The first I've had in over forty years. Little buggers they are!!!

At first glance I would say this is a species of Coreopsis, perhaps C. lanceolata. Common name varies, but some call it Tickseed. The national flower of Florida. Might be worth checking out. Lovely flower.

I think I found an ID for your beautiful flower. Pictures of all parts of a plant can be very helpful for identifying them as some flowers look quite similar but the leaf shape or something like a hairy stem vs. a smooth stem can help determine the species. So if you are able, always try to get images of the leaves and stem and a picture of the entire plant if you are unsure of the ID. It can be helpful for other users as well if they compare your pictures to something they have found.
