Field Notes

Description:

Mushroom with clean, white cap 2-3" in length. Underside reveals pores that are more or less the same color as the cap. Fungus edges turn golden brown with age.

Habitat:

Substrate is a live tree with significant rot in Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.

Notes:

Second photo with flash. Hard to see, but there's a hitchhiker (some type of fly) sitting on the specimen.
